Scripture: 2 Samuel 6

There have always been people who get offended.

Here, we have David’s wife Michal who “despised him in her heart” when she saw David dancing before the ark of the Lord.

The thing is, he wasn’t just dancing before the ark of the Lord, he was dancing before the Lord. It was an act of worship, and he was not ashamed.

He didn’t apologize. He knew his motives were pure and he stood by his actions. It was this honest heart that made David the man he was: a man after God’s own heart.

And David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me above your father and above all his house, to appoint me as prince over Israel, the people of the Lord —and I will celebrate before the Lord.

2 Samuel 6:21

Know the why behind your actions. Align your motives with the ways of the Lord. Stand firm. And celebrate before the Lord.

Scripture: 2 Samuel 22

1 And David spoke to the LORD the words of this song on the day when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. 2 He said,

The God of David is the same God we serve today. He doesn’t change, He doesn’t fade, He doesn’t back down.

  • He shows mercy to the merciful.
  • He shows Himself blameless to the blameless man.
  • He deals purely with the purified.
  • He makes himself seem tortuous with the crooked.
  • He saves a humble people.
  • His eyes are on the haughty to bring them down.

Let Him be your lamp. Ask God to lighten your darkness.

30 For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. 31 This God—his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.

Let Him be your shield. He is the rock of our salvation.

{This a link to an article I read right after writing this post. It’s the best article I’ve read on the state of America today, and it relates to the fact that God hasn’t changed.}

Journal: Write a prayer thanking God for His unchanging attributes.

Scripture: 2 Samuel 5

All of David’s success was because “the Lord God of hosts was with him.”

David had a relationship with the Lord. He talked to Him, he asked Him for guidance, and then when the Lord accomplished something in David’s life, David gave Him the credit.

Let’s be like David: walk with the Lord, and give glory to God.

Journal: Write a prayer asking God to fight your battles or giving Him glory for battles already won.

Move: Long run day! Take it slow, walk if you need to.

{Beginner’s run #15: Walk 5 minutes to warm-up, then run 7 minute/walk 1 minute x3, then walk 5 minutes to cool-down.}
