Scripture: Proverbs 18

It’s tempting when we read the Proverbs to think of someone else who fits those descriptions. We all know someone who isolates themselves or someone who loves expressing their own opinion. We can look around and see people being partial to the wicked and depriving justice where it’s due. We know whisperers, and fools, and prideful rich people. But what are we???

You don’t have to change your behavior or your attitudes in your own strength. You don’t have to defend yourself alone against the temptations of the world. You can run to the Lord! He wants to change you in His power! He wants to protect you by His Spirit! Run to God. Run to the only true source of fulfillment and safety and comfort.

Journal: Write a prayer to the Lord asking Him to reveal any dark spots on your life. Run to Him in prayer.

Move: Run 1, 3, 5, or 7 miles. Walk when you need to.

Scripture: Proverbs 16

These verses are a comfort to me.

I am definitely a planner. I like a new calendar or a fresh journal. I like making to-do lists and checking things off them. I like making daily schedules or big picture blueprints for a season or a year.

I also like the idea that if all my plans fall apart it’s okay because I know who’s really in charge.

My plans are fluid and changing.…… His are steady and firm.

The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD.

Journal: Write out your plans. Then hold them with an open hand before the Lord.

Move: Run a run today. Maybe don’t plan the time, distance, or pace…just go out and see what happens!

{Beginner’s run #11: Walk 5 minutes to warm-up, then run 5 minutes/walk 1 minute x4, then walk 5 minutes to cool-down.}

Praise the Lord, and just show up.

Scripture: Proverbs 7

One way to avoid temptation is to keep your eyes set on the Truth.

Memorize the Word, cling to it, let it be your refuge and your guide.

Teach this proverb to your sons. Teach them wisdom.

Journal: Write a prayer for the young men of our society. Pray that they will cling to wisdom and rise up to be God-fearing leaders among us.

Move: Rest, repeat, recover.

{Beginner’s run #9: Walk 5 minutes to warm-up, then run 5┬áminutes/walk 1 minute x4, then walk 5 minutes to cool-down.}

Praise the Lord, and keep showing up.
