Scripture: Ecclesiastes 7

These verses are very applicable to today. Seek wisdom and protect it rather than looking for the next thing to be angry about. Good days and bad days all serve a purpose. Use the mind God has given you to reason through the circumstances, see the big picture, and make good decisions. Pray for wisdom.

10 Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?”

For it is not from wisdom that you ask this.

11 Wisdom is good with an inheritance,

an advantage to those who see the sun.

12 For the protection of wisdom is like the protection of money,

and the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.

13 Consider the work of God:

who can make straight what he has made crooked?

14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him.

Scripture: Proverbs 16

These verses are a comfort to me.

I am definitely a planner. I like a new calendar or a fresh journal. I like making to-do lists and checking things off them. I like making daily schedules or big picture blueprints for a season or a year.

I also like the idea that if all my plans fall apart it’s okay because I know who’s really in charge.

My plans are fluid and changing.…… His are steady and firm.

The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD.

Journal: Write out your plans. Then hold them with an open hand before the Lord.

Move: Run a run today. Maybe don’t plan the time, distance, or pace…just go out and see what happens!

{Beginner’s run #11: Walk 5 minutes to warm-up, then run 5 minutes/walk 1 minute x4, then walk 5 minutes to cool-down.}

Praise the Lord, and just show up.

Scripture: Deuteronomy 7

God is faithful.

He wanted Israel to be faithful to Him.  He wants us to he faithful to Him.

He chose Israel as His people. He chooses us as His people.

He wanted them to be separate from the other nations and their gods and their ways. He wants us to be separate from the world and it’s gods and it’s ways.

I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.

John 17:14-19

He wanted Israel to go in and kill the physical enemy. He wants us to kill the spiritual enemy by sharing the Truth with other.

Good article by John Piper about being sent into the world.

Journal: Write a prayer asking the Lord to show you how to be in the world yet separate…how to share the truth while not being taken down by lies.
