Scripture: John 7 and John 16

“The Living Water”…

It really is as refreshing as it sounds.

He’s talking about the Holy Spirit:

39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

When Jesus left earth He sent us this Helper.

This guidance into truth is the comfort we need. We don’t have to be afraid in a world of lies and deceit. We don’t have to be bogged down by the sadness and despair. We have a Helper who points us to the Truth.

If you believe in Jesus you receive the Spirit. You can have this Helper and this Comforter. You can have the refreshment of this Living Water.

Journal: Write a prayer asking for the Living Water if you have yet to receive it.

Move: Let’s run hills today. Find a hilly route or a hill to run up and down.

{Beginner’s run #13: Walk 5 minutes to warm-up, then run 6 minute/walk 1 minute x4, then walk 5 minutes to cool-down.}

Praise the Lord, and just show up.

Scripture: Deuteronomy 7

God is faithful.

He wanted Israel to be faithful to Him.  He wants us to he faithful to Him.

He chose Israel as His people. He chooses us as His people.

He wanted them to be separate from the other nations and their gods and their ways. He wants us to be separate from the world and it’s gods and it’s ways.

I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.

John 17:14-19

He wanted Israel to go in and kill the physical enemy. He wants us to kill the spiritual enemy by sharing the Truth with other.

Good article by John Piper about being sent into the world.

Journal: Write a prayer asking the Lord to show you how to be in the world yet separate…how to share the truth while not being taken down by lies.

Scripture: John 6

Jesus satisfies the soul.

It’s not something that can be understood by the mind alone. As Jesus was talking to those following him He talked about His flesh being the bread of life:

I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.

This was hard for them to understand and many were offended. He explained that their flesh hinders them:

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Jesus lost followers that day, but not His main twelve (Judas was still lying in wait), and He asked them if they wanted to leave too. I like Simon Peter’s answer:

Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.

True belief brings true commitment.

The soul is satisfied in Jesus and every other option pales in comparison.

***I wrote this post before church on Sunday, and then went to church and heard a great sermon that related well. Listen here.***

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
1 Corinthians 2:14

Journal: Write a prayer and thank God for satisfying your soul. If you still don’t have that understanding, pray for it!

Move: YouTube Wind Warrior Workout. (It was really windy the day I filmed.)

Praise the Lord, and keep showing up.
