Scripture: Luke 1

I like Luke. He puts the story of Jesus in chronological order. You can really imagine the story happening as the writing unfolds.

And the story is full of drama. Good drama…who knew there was such a thing?

It’s good, because it’s TRUE.

Even though it may seem inconceivable that an old lady and her virgin cousin would be visited by angels and then pregnant within a short time span (within any time span!), it’s the true story of John the Baptist and Jesus.

Like Mary we may ask, “How can this be?” But let’s trust like Mary as well, because “nothing will be impossible with God.”

Journal: Use Luke 1:46-55 as a template to write your own prayer of praise to God…copy Mary’s words exactly if you want. And don’t only praise Him for what He’s already done, but for what He’s going to do!

Move: Below is a link to another one of my amazing tabata videos! Haha. The workouts are good, but I do realize the videos are subpar. If you hate them, shop around on YouTube for a workout series you do like, and that you will do. Or get to the gym for a class!

Scripture: Daniel 1

How are those New Year’s Resolutions going? Did you even make any?

In this passage of Scripture we see Daniel make a resolution…but he didn’t wait til New Year’s Eve.

But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king’s food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself. 9 And God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs

We can learn from Daniel to stand firm in our beliefs when faced with opposition or temptation. But we don’t need to wait until this opposition or temptation is in our face; we need to resolve beforehand how we’re going to answer or escape.

Be ready, be resolved, and trust the Lord with the rest.

“preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry” (2 Tim. 4:2-5).

Journal: It’s a new day. Renew your resolutions. Write them down.

If you didn’t set any goals that would help grow your relationship with Christ, add one in now, don’t wait. Maybe resolve to memorize a verse every week. I love the Remember Me app to help with this.

Move: Run or rest (repeat from yesterday).

If you didn’t workout yesterday: Move for at least an hour…easy run as much as you can, walk if you need to…no pressure, enjoy the time.

Scripture: 1 Samuel 1

Hannah is such a beautiful example of prayer, faith, and sacrifice.

She prays so fervently for a child that the priest thinks she’s drunk. Let us carry our desires to the Lord in fervent prayer like this (James 5:16-18).

She goes away with her face uplifted. Let us have confidence that He hears us and will answer us like this (1 John 5:14-15).

And when her prayers are answered she turns and dedicates it all back to the Lord…her flesh and bone she gives to the Lord’s service. Let us sacrifice every part of ourselves to the Lord like this (Romans 12:1-2).

Journal: Write a prayer for the thing you most desire. If you can’t think of anything for yourself then pray for a friend…maybe you know someone who wants to have a baby but hasn’t been able to conceive…pray on her behalf.
