Scripture: Isaiah 26

One day we will know perfect peace with the Lord in His new heaven and new earth. Until then we can taste this peace by keeping our thoughts focused on Him.

He’s the only one who will not disappoint. He’s strong and steady.

This doesn’t mean we won’t struggle. It just means that when we do we have a God we can call on.

Turn your thoughts to God.

Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7

The house of the Lord was finished. The presence of the Lord moved in. The people praised the Lord for His steadfast love.

And He told them that if He ever sends drought or locust or pestilence on them, then this:

This isn’t necessarily a promise to America like it was to the land of Israel, but we can still apply it to our hearts. We all need to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways.

He will hear our prayer, and in His steadfast love He will answer.

Journal: Write a prayer to God and humble yourself before Him. Pray for other Christians all around the world.

Scripture: 1 Chronicles 29

In this chapter we see the last bits of David’s life.

He’s paving the path for a smooth transition from his reign to that of his son Solomon’s. He’s prepared and provided for the temple Solomon would build to the best of his ability. He leads the people of Israel in offering to the Lord, and above all he prays for Solomon.

18 O LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the hearts of your people, and direct their hearts toward you. 19 Grant to Solomon my son a whole heart that he may keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, performing all, and that he may build the palace for which I have made provision.

David understood the importance of a pure heart. He wants this for the people of Israel and especially for Solomon. We should pray the same for our country and our children.

Journal: Copy this prayer of David’s and personalize it for our country and your children.
