Scripture: John 20:1-18

This passage makes me want to be a morning person…

Imagine Mary Magdalene being the first one to Jesus’ tomb…while it was still dark…

1 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.

She runs to Simon Peter and the others, but not with joy just yet. She doesn’t know where His body is!

“They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.”

Even when the other disciples have looked in and believed He’s risen she still doesn’t quite get it:

11 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb. 12 And she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. 13 They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.”

She even speaks to Jesus and doesn’t realize it’s Him, but then…

16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher).

She sees the resurrected Lord.

What a glorious morning it turns out to be!

Scripture: Psalm 55

I feel like this some days:

And I say, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest; yes, I would wander far away; I would lodge in the wilderness; Selah

Psalm 55:6‭-‬7

Running away isn’t the answer though… crying to God is:

But I call to God, and the Lord will save me. Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan, and he hears my voice.

Psalm 55:16‭-‬17

He wants to take our burdens and give us rest.

Trust God. He can handle it.

Scripture: Revelation 9

{Check back to last month’s post on Revelation for a re-cap: Daily Dig: 8/21/20}

The first four angels have blown their trumpets, and you’ll remember I said it gets worse.

In this chapter the fifth and sixth angels take their turns:

Torment:

And death:

These scriptures will be fulfilled in the future. Today is the day to repent and serve the Lord.

12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. 15 As has just been said:

“Today, if you hear his voice,
    do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion.”

Hebrews 3
