Scripture: Romans 7

There’s a constant war between our flesh and our spirit. We want to do good but our flesh is weak.

Thankfully, we’re covered by the grace of God, and the blood Jesus Christ shed on the cross covers us.

He freed us from death and sin when He rose from the grave! He freed us so that we could live to serve Him…not because we have to, but because we want to.

We don’t have to earn His favor, but we live for Him because His Spirit lives in us. We don’t produce fruit for Him, we produce fruit because of Him…and then we give it all back to Him. It’s not for our glory, but His alone.

Journal: Write a prayer and thank the Lord for freedom to live in His grace.

Scripture: Matthew 7

There’s a lot of meat packed in this chapter, but it’s all pretty simple if you break it down into bite-sized pieces:

  • Don’t judge others by a standard which you yourself are not willing to be judged (vs.1-5).
  • Don’t expect unbelievers to respect God’s laws (vs.6).
  • Keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking on the Lord’s door. He wants to give you good gifts! (vs.7-11)
  • “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets” (vs.12).
  • Don’t take the wide road! (vs.13)
  • Don’t judge, but do TEST. People who claim to be prophets of God should have fruits in their lives that back up their words (vs.15-20).
  • Not everyone who says, “Lord, Lord!” will get into heaven…but those who do the will of God sure will (vs.21-23).
  • Build your house on the rock…hear the words of Jesus, and do them. Build.

Journal: Write a prayer of thanksgiving for the words of Jesus that we can freely read.

Move: Got a stretchy band at home? It’s a great tool for your box:

Praise the Lord, and just show up.

Scripture: 1 Chronicles 29

In this chapter we see the last bits of David’s life.

He’s paving the path for a smooth transition from his reign to that of his son Solomon’s. He’s prepared and provided for the temple Solomon would build to the best of his ability. He leads the people of Israel in offering to the Lord, and above all he prays for Solomon.

18 O LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the hearts of your people, and direct their hearts toward you. 19 Grant to Solomon my son a whole heart that he may keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, performing all, and that he may build the palace for which I have made provision.

David understood the importance of a pure heart. He wants this for the people of Israel and especially for Solomon. We should pray the same for our country and our children.

Journal: Copy this prayer of David’s and personalize it for our country and your children.

Move: Run day. Just do it. (Not a Nike commercial.)
