Scripture: Deuteronomy 31 and 32 (Moses’ song)

This is written to the people of Israel before they entered the promised land, but we, as believers and His adopted children, can still apply it:

We can be “strong and courageous” when we step out in faith with God. No doubt, no fear! He will not forsake us!

However, there is a flip side. If you go against God, you go alone. Here, there should be fear:

16 The LORD said to Moses, “Behold, you are about to lie down with your fathers; and this people will arise and play the harlot with the strange gods of the land, into the midst of which they are going, and will forsake Me and break My covenant which I have made with them. 17 Then My anger will be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them and hide My face from them, and they will be consumed, and many evils and troubles will come upon them; so that they will say in that day, ‘Is it not because our God is not among us that these evils have come upon us?’ 18 But I will surely hide My face in that day because of all the evil which they will do, for they will turn to other gods.

God wants good for us, but like a good Father He does not reward evil behavior.

This world can be confusing when evil seems to triumph and good is seemingly squashed. We have to look beyond. We need to cry to God:

3 “For I proclaim the name of the LORD; Ascribe greatness to our God!4 “The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.

He hears us, He sees us, He already sent Jesus to rescue us once and for all, and He will come again with justice and power:

39 ‘See now that I, I am He, And there is no god besides Me; It is I who put to death and give life. I have wounded and it is I who heal, And there is no one who can deliver from My hand.

Go with God.
