Scripture: Daniel 5 and Proverbs 16

Nebuchadnezzar had his prideful days. The Lord humbled him by causing him to lose his sanity and live like an animal. At the end of those days he recognized that the Most High God rules.
Contrast that with his son, Belshazzar. Also, prideful: drinking from the cups taken from the temple of God. Also warned: a hand actually appeared and wrote his doom on the wall!
Belshazzar seems unmoved.
He dies that night never humbling himself before the Most High God.
Read through Proverb 16 and think of your own response to the word of God. Are you holding on to pride, like Belshazzar, or are you living a humble life recognizing that….
The heart of man plans his way,
but the LORD establishes his steps.[And…]
The lot is cast into the lap,
but its every decision is from the LORD.
Proverbs 16:9,33
God is The Most High. He rules over our best-laid plans.
