Scripture: Esther 4

Esther was in the king’s palace. She didn’t choose to be there, but the Lord had placed her there. He knew beforehand that she would be the one to save the Jewish people at this time.
“Do not think to yourself that in the king’s palace you will escape any more than all the other Jews. 14 For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
Mordecai encouraged Esther in a straightforward way. He had faith that God would deliver His people and he knew that Esther had the opportunity to be used by God…she only had to accept the mission.
And she did:
16 “Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.”
Where are you now? What mission is before you? It may not be as certain and dangerous as Esther’s but through fasting and prayer the Lord may make it clear.
For me, homeschooling has been a call that I haven’t been able to deny. I may not face death like Esther, but some days are more trying than others. It is not easy and I mess it up a lot, but the fruits of the labor are abundant. I get see how my children think. They’re all so different and have different needs and strengths. I’m able to witness how the Lord is growing them and using them. It’s what I’m doing for now, and I’m praying that I’ll be ready for whatever my next mission may be. Fasting and praying are great tools of preparation.
Journal: Write a prayer and accept your mission. Don’t know your mission yet? Write a prayer asking Him what task He has for you.
