Scripture: Jeremiah 3

This is another tough chapter…I mean, calling someone a “whore” is pretty serious business.
He’s a jealous God. He wants all of us.
Israel had fallen away from following the Lord, they were seeking after other gods. The one true God wasn’t having it.
Yet, even when He had every reason to give up on Israel and leave them to their own destruction He sends this message by Jeremiah:
12 Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say,“‘Return, faithless Israel, declares the LORD. I will not look on you in anger, for I am merciful, declares the LORD; I will not be angry forever. 13 Only acknowledge your guilt, that you rebelled against the LORD your God and scattered your favors among foreigners under every green tree, and that you have not obeyed my voice, declares the LORD. 14 Return, O faithless children, declares the LORD; for I am your master; I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.
Jeremiah 3:12-14
He’s a God of second (and third, and fourth) chances. He’s SO merciful. He doesn’t want to give us what we deserve; He only wants to give us good things. “Only acknowledge your guilt,” and admit that you can’t save yourself, He takes care of the rest!
Journal: Write a prayer of thanksgiving for the Lord’s daily mercies.

Praise the Lord, and just show up!
Been thinking about this passage throughout yesterday.. “I will not look on you in anger, for I am merciful, declares the LORD; I will not be angry forever. 13 Only acknowledge your guilt, “ He is pleading with the faulty one over and over. He’s taking first step to show mercy and initiate to bring us back to Him. He’s making it easy for us to repent and no need to do penance or jump through so many loops and hoops, like other religions. It’s easy to be reconciled with the Lord: just acknowledge you guilt. Would we repent if He wouldn’t send His Spirit to search us? If God would stay angry forever, who would stand a chance? May we be strengthened to be able to show God’s character, love, kindness and mercy to those around, as well 🙏🏻❤️
