Scripture: 1 Corinthians 2

We can quickly go down a spiral if we start questioning God and asking, “Why would God let these things happen?”

I don’t think it’s a bad thing to pray and ask why, but I think we have to be ready for the answer (and that it may be really no answer at all) but instead a place where we rest in the big-ness of God and the fact that we may not understand “why” right now, but He does have a “why” and it will be worth it. Sometimes that’s a hard place to find.

The thing that comes to my mind is the story I wrote about a few days ago of Paul being stoned. His mission was so worth it that he got up from being practically killed and went right back to work. He had met Jesus on the road to Damascus, he had seen the light, and he had quickly realized that the cause of Christ was worth it.

Let’s trust the God of the universe, the God of the Bible, the God of Paul, and the God of all those who have endured suffering without losing faith. Let’s trust that this one true God has one big plan, and though we may not understand our sufferings now, we can take comfort in Him.

16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Cor. 2:16

Bonus: A great testimony of coming through a time of suffering that my brother and sister-in-law shared with me:

Journal: Write a prayer and ask God your “whys”. Then rest in His sovereignty and move on to what does He want me to do now.

Move: Today’s menu: 5 miles with a strong finish.

OR…if you’ve followed the beginner’s program:

{It’s time to run a 5k. There may not be a t-shirt or a medal, but there will be satisfaction in the act of finishing.}

***A second chance: I will go back to the beginning in posting this Beginner’s Run Program, so if you fell off in your training you can start fresh and still have time to run a spring 5k.***

Praise the Lord, and keep showing up!
