Daily Dig: 2/20/21

Scripture: Acts 13:1-14:28

There is a lot of good preaching in these chapters. Paul, Barnabas, and others are on a mission and they’re stirring people up at every turn.

Many people are believing and rejoicing in Paul’s teaching, but the unbelieving Jews were not entertained.

They stoned Paul. They left him for dead.

“But when the disciples gathered about him, HE ROSE UP…AND ON THE NEXT DAY HE WENT ON.”

It’s mentioned so casually in the passage, but it’s an amazing picture of the fire in Paul’s soul that was leading him forward! He and the other disciples were a force for Jesus. They had the tools for the job.

All the disciples “were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 13:52).

Joy, the Holy Spirit, and other believers standing beside you. If you have those things, nothing can keep you down.

Journal: Write a prayer for people in this world who face real persecution for sharing the gospel. Thank the Lord that we can still worship freely here for now. Pray that the Church as a whole will stand strong together in joy and the Holy Spirit.

Move:

Today, let’s do a more specific interval run. Find a track or a half mile stretch of road. Run 800 meters (2 laps or .5 mile) and walk .25 mile. When you run, pick up the pace so you’re out of your comfort zone. The walk is your recovery. Do it 4 times.

{Beginner’s run #23: warm-up with a 5-minute walk, then run 20 minutes straight, then cool-down with a 5-minute walk.}

Praise the Lord, and keep showing up!
