Daily Dig: 2/11/21

Scripture: 1 Samuel 2

We see two ends of the spectrum here:

  • Hannah exults the Lord! She’s blessed for her dedication to Him.
  • Eli’s sons are doing evil and Eli doesn’t get them under control. His whole family is condemned.

It doesn’t always work out like this in such a timely manner. We may see some blessings of the Lord on a regular basis, but it seems like evil goes unpunished a lot of the time.

We can rest assured though that God is in control. And His justice will prevail in the end.

Have faith like Hannah.

9 “He will guard the feet of his faithful ones, but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness, for not by might shall a man prevail.10 The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; against them he will thunder in heaven. The LORD will judge the ends of the earth; he will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed.”

Journal: Copy in parts or whole Hannah’s prayer of exultation to the Lord. No matter what you’re going through you can trust in the Rock!

Move: You can do this at home with a set of dumbbells:

If you don’t know exactly what an exercise is just do the closest thing that you do know. Don’t overthink it!

Praise the Lord, and just show up!

  1. I have thought a lot about Hannah last year. Many could have observed her from a distance and conclude that she had inordinate desires to have a child, maybe she made an idol out of having a child. She prayed so hard that she appeared “drunk”, her longing for a child obviously consumed her… eventually it was proven to be great faith in her Father in Heaven. He granted her wish. We cannot judge people’s motivations of the heart, only God is the one who knows what’s. May we all have faith like her and persevere against all odds, we can trust the Rock, indeed, His justice will prevail!
