Scripture: Joshua 1

“… Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Three times the Lord tells Joshua to be strong and courageous.

“Be strong and courageous,” NOT because you’re really talented, and NOT because you’re really smart, and NOT because “I believe in you!” No, be strong and courageous because “the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The Lord does give us gifts and He does want us to use them, but when He calls on us for a task, and we feel completely inadequate, that’s precisely where He wants us. He wants us to rely on Him.

He wants us to be strong and courageous, because He is strong and courageous, and He is our God.

Journal: Take a minute and write down things you feel like the Lord wants you to do but you feel inadequate to do alone. Pray for the Lord’s strength and courage.

If you can’t think of anything for yourself, write a prayer of strength and courage for someone else…the Israelites did the same for Joshua.

Move: Here’s a workout you can do at home or the gym.

It’s a toughy but you can break it up into chunks…do some today, some tomorrow, etc. Also, modify the jumping movements to something lower impact if needed.

Go be strong and courageous in the Lord!

Praise the Lord, and just show up!
