Daily Dig: 1/1/21

Welcome. My plan here is simple: provide a passage of scripture, a thought, a journal topic, and a workout to help you in your day-to-day grind.

I want this to be a one-stop-shop to what I consider the most important things for spiritual and physical health. I’ve found that these two elements lead to greater mental clarity, which in turn leads to better choices with your diet and family life.

I hope you’ll subscribe to the blog so you can easily click in and “dig in” daily. (scroll to the bottom and click “follow”)

***side note: the scriptures are in no real order. this month I’m hitting a lot of “chapter 1s” as well as a weekly dose of Acts.

***side note 2: the beginner’s run plan is posted 3 times/week, not everyday. The workouts are just ideas to get you moving, not a strict fitness program.

Scripture: Genesis 1 (click and read)

God created the heavens and the earth, He spoke and there was light, He created you and me in His image, He made it all…and it is good.

He loves us and wants a relationship with us. Make time this year to cultivate that relationship, and express your thankfulness for all that He’s created, and take note of all that is good in the world.

Journal: Start a list of things you’re thankful for.

Ann Voskamp’s book One Thousand Gifts got me in this habit years back. Even when things are dark, and it’s hard to pray, you can always find something for which to be thankful.

Move: GO RUN. 5k, half-marathon, down your street to the stop sign and back…grab a friend, your kids, your phone…JUST GO.

Can’t run? WALK. Start walking today and work on picking up the pace. Then add in 30 seconds to 1 minute of running with equal amounts walking in between. Take it slow, but commit to be consistent. Consistency is the key to reaching your fitness goals this year.

{Beginner’s run #1: Walk 5 minutes to warm-up, then run 1 minute/walk 1 minute x8, then walk 5 minutes to cool-down.}

Thanks for digging in with me!

Praise the Lord, and keep showing up!
