Scripture: 1 Chronicles 29

In this chapter we see the last bits of David’s life.

He’s paving the path for a smooth transition from his reign to that of his son Solomon’s. He’s prepared and provided for the temple Solomon would build to the best of his ability. He leads the people of Israel in offering to the Lord, and above all he prays for Solomon.

18 O LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the hearts of your people, and direct their hearts toward you. 19 Grant to Solomon my son a whole heart that he may keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, performing all, and that he may build the palace for which I have made provision.

David understood the importance of a pure heart. He wants this for the people of Israel and especially for Solomon. We should pray the same for our country and our children.

Journal: Copy this prayer of David’s and personalize it for our country and your children.
