Daily Dig: 4/29/20

Scripture: Psalm 13

This is one of my favorite Psalms. I love it because it seems so full of despair and sorrow, but then at the end it turns a corner and hope is renewed.

1 How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? 2 How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? 3 Consider and answer me, O LORD my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death, 4 lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,” lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.

How many times have I done this myself? Wallowed in my self-pity and focused on the doom and gloom, just to realize I’m wasting my time and losing my focus. Turning my eyes back to Jesus is the only answer.

Journal: Write a prayer turning your focus back to the Lord and be thankful for how he’s “dealt bountifully” with you.

Move: Run. 3-5 miles for regular runners.

{Beginner’s run #4: Walk 5 minutes to warm-up, then run 3 minutes/walk 1 minute x5, then walk 5 minutes to cool-down.}

Praise the Lord, and keep showing up.

  1. So true… 🙏🏻❤️ I was just meditating on Romans 8:32 “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?” How much hope and comfort in that! The self pity parties deny God’s goodness towards us and I’ve done plenty of those. He is Good, even in the deepest afflictions, when we think we’re all forgotten. It was encouraging for me to read this tonight, I said I’ll check my email before calling it a night and your post just came in. We’re feeble and wavering, but He’s not.
