Scripture: Titus 2

Do you like lists as much as I do?

I love to check things off a list. ✔✔✔

There are a few good “to-do lists” in this chapter of Titus:

Older men should be:

  • sober-minded
  • dignified
  • self-controlled
  • sound in: faith, love, and steadfastness

Older women should be:

  • reverent in behavior
  • not slanderers or slaves to much wine
  • teachers of what is good

Young women should be:

  • trained to love their husbands and their children
  • self-controlled
  • pure
  • working at home
  • kind
  • submissive to their own husbands

Younger men should be:

  • self-controlled
  • models of good works
  • teachers with integrity, dignity, and sound speech

Check the list that’s written to you and your age group. Do you do all those things perfectly 100% the time???

Ummmm, no. No, you don’t. Even if you think you do, you don’t.

None of us can reach perfection, but Jesus reached it for us. He is perfect. The perfect sacrifice. He does want us to strive to live according to His word, but He knows we always fall short. That’s why He provided GRACE. To cover our shortcomings.

11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Titus 2:11-14

Journal: Write your own list. Write down some behaviors you’d like to work on to better yourself, your family, or your witness for Christ. Then pray that the Lord will give you what you need to live for Him, and the grace to keep pushing forward if (or when) you fall short.

Move: 100 reps and core! Grab some dumbbells or hit the gym. Just move.

Praise the Lord, and just show up!

  1. What is undeserved grace… I’m always humbled when I think of Jesus choosing to wash Juda’s feet, knowing he’ll betray Him. I pray we will all have that humility and enough love to bend down and serve one another like that, to be able to show God’s grace even to the undeserving, to the ones who betray us and hurt us, because that’s how our Lord is. We need to be like Him! 🙏🏻❤️ I guess that would make for a simple and short list: Christ! I can remember that! 😅🙃💪🏻💪🏻
